July CRAZY DAZE and 3rd Friday

Anita Williams - Saturday, July 10, 2010

June's CRAZY DAZE was an instant hit with shoppers. There's a whole new crop of special offers for July's CRAZY DAZE coming up July 15-17. To get advance notice of what the offers will be, sign up for the Weekend Planner.  CRAZY DAZE will be the featured item every month, along with other Guest Pass offers available to subscribers, including special packages at our historic B&Bs.

CRAZY DAZE will be held every month in conjunction with the 3rd Friday Arts Festival.  “3rd Friday” runs from 10:00am-6:00pm on Friday, and 10:00am-5:00pm on Saturday, and is held in and around the Depot.

The Arts Festival showcases various artists and their creative talents.   Painting, photography, printmaking, music, dance, performance, fiber arts, and hand-crafted ceramics, sculpture and jewelry are welcome to the Festival.  Registration is required, but no vendor fees are being charged to participants.  This is a free event sponsored by the Cultural Arts District, headed by Sandy Page.

This month, the Winnsboro Shopping Cart Drill Team will be collecting recyclables, some of which will be used by students in the Green Art workshop at the Winnsboro Center for the Arts on July 16th.  An “Open House” displaying the art will be held at the Winnsboro Center for the Arts on July 24th.

Watch the Drill Team's routine Friday at 2pm at the Depot and 5:30 pm on Market Street.

This week, you can pick up blue recycling bags at Art & Espresso. The recycling truck will be at the Depot from 11am-3pm on Friday.

Surprise your Valentine with The Great Romance getaway

Anita Williams - Thursday, February 04, 2010

Tim Carmichael is the owner and creative force behind the award-winning B&B, Thee Hubbell House. We were chatting over coffee at Art and Espresso one afternoon this week. He told me about a couple from Paris who recently came to the B&B for their honeymoon.

My first thought was, hey, what a great idea! Paris is not that far away, and what a wonderful way to enjoy a luxury honeymoon without all the expense and hassle of flying to some crowded honeymoon destination.

Tim told me one of the things they requested was rose petals strewn on their bed. I couldn't help but smile. First, because I know Tim and his team will go to great lengths to cater to the wishes of guests. Second, because I realized a romantic getaway is something couples of any age deserve - with or without rose petals.

Which brings me to the special Valentine's package. Tim has teamed with Double C Steakhouse and Crossroads Music Company to create The Great Romance package. It's based on the special package they offer, with extra touches to make a couple's stay truly memorable.

Thee Hubbell House is a gorgeous mansion on a quiet street within walking distance of the historic Main Street district. You will stay in the Master Suite that features a king size brass bed and a charming clawfoot tub. A rose will be waiting for you as well. Dinner at the Double C Steakhouse includes your choice of any entree on the menu. You'll also get tickets to Crossroads.

Rhett Butler is performing on February 13. He is an astonishing musician and dazzles the audience by playing two guitars simultaneously.

It's important to note that The Great Romance package is available throughout the month of February. And you can call Tim and create your own package. Every room at the B&B is a romantic retreat.

The value of the package is $300, but the price is only $215, all taxes included. Call Tim today to make your reservations. 903-342-5629 or toll free, 1-800-227-0639.
