Winnsboro Center for the Arts invites children and pets to the Spring Festival!

Winnsboro Center for the Arts would like you to draw and color a picture of your pet to put up at the Center for all to enjoy on May 12 during Winnsboro’s Springfest .

You can also bring your pet to the Parade of Pets at 1:30 pm on the same day. There will be prizes for the pictures of pets and for the pets in the parade.

1.Draw and color your picture on 8-1/2”x11” or 9”x12” paper.

2. On the BACK of your picture write your name and age and school grade.

3.Give your picture to your teacher before May 10th. (If your teacher is not collecting the artwork, or if you are home-schooled, you can drop the pictures off at the WCA or at Sayadream Studio (Market & Elm) if we’re not open.)

Invite your parents to see your picture at the Art Center and enjoy the Pet Parade and the other Springfest activities on May 11, 12, and 13!

Celebrating May Flowers: The Watercolor Art of Bobbye Koncak Exhibit May 9 - June 16, 2012

Bobbye Koncak, an award-winning artist who works in watercolors and an East Texas treasure, will exhibit her paintings, silk scarves, and additional pieces at the Winnsboro Center for the Arts. Many will be available for purchase, and just in time for Mother’s Day.

The gorgeous colors of spring are beautifully displayed in the watercolor paintings that will be exhibited from Wednesday, May 9 through June 16.

Hi - It's me, City Kitty, the official spokescat for the Winnsboro Animal Shelter with a reminder that we need your help to have the bestest Garage Sale EVER to raise money for the Winnsboro Animal Shelter.

Clean out your own garage and see what you can part with. We can use anything that is useful, but in good condition (no clothes please). We also need two-footed human volunteers to help sort and price the stuff people bring us to sell to support the Shelter.

This is a really important event for us because our dogs, cats and other critters need vet care, food, toys and, most of all, love. (Hint, hint - time to consider a furry addition to your household!)

The Animal Shelter Garage Sale is an adventure, even for four-footed folks like me. Please tell your human friends to come shop the Garage Sale!

Mother/Daughter supper at Falster Farm, Friday, May 18.

Chef Nancy is hosting another class/dinner at Falster Farm. The theme is Mother's Day and while the younger ones are in the kitchen, the moms and grandmothers will be learning about herbs for health and tea by herbalist Susan Thames.

This is a special event allowing young ladies to prepare a meal for their mom or grandmother with help from Chef Nancy.

The young ladies will prepare chicken salad, pinwheels, heavenly eggs, carrot curls, radish roses, herbal tea and parfait for dessert. Napkin folding and table setting will be part of the experience in getting ready to serve their delicious meal.

Learn or refine your basket weaving skills with Kathleen Ewing on Saturday, May 5, from 9 am - 4 pm with an hour break for lunch.

You will take home your own handmade basket at the end of the day.

Bring the following to the workshop:

A bucket or pan to soak your reed and a spray bottle to mist the reed to keep it wet
A tape measure or ruler, pencil and notebook
Sharp shears, clothes pins or clamps, a towel
Hand cream

All other supplies will be provided.

Winnsboro Spring Festival
May 12 & 13, 2012

Saturday, 8 am - 5 pm
Sunday, 9 am - 4 pm
(The closing time may be extended an hour each day,
depending on the crowds.)

Market, Elm and Franklin Streets will be closed to vehicle
traffic as needed for the Festival.

Spring Festival boasts all different kinds of vendors of
fun, interesting and usual products, from hand made to
machine made.

Look for jewelry, photos, wood crafts, metal crafts,
rocks, fossils, home decor, canvas art, hair bows,
children's chairs, decorated tote bags, paintings,
bird houses just to name a few of the items that
will be there.

There will be 70 food vendors serving everything
from hotdogs, hamburgers, turkey legs and fresh
lemonade. Mmm. . . is your mouth watering?
