Art Walk featured at Keyring Gallery and paticipating merchants

Anita Williams - Tuesday, September 13, 2011

Here's a message from Sandy Page, Director of the Winnsboro Cultural Arts District. . .

The “3rd Friday” Art Walk continues to highlight the work of area artists at the “Artists’ Exhibition” being featured this Friday evening, September 16th , from 6-9 pm at the Keyring Gallery, 107 Locust.

Many associated Art Walk merchants will, also, feature the work of local artists.    The artwork represents a wide variety of styles, is reasonably priced and sales benefits area artists.   Music will be featured for the “evening of art”.

The Friday evening Art Walk is a part of the “3rd Friday” Arts Festival and, in addition to the art displays, there are individual featured sales/events by several downtown merchants.   From 6-9 pm, refreshments are being served at many of the featured “Art Stops”.

Besides the Keyring Gallery, merchants include SayADream Studio, the Winnsboro Emporium, Art & Espresso, Beauweevils, Liefie, Silhouette Dressmaking, Main Street Antiques & Collectibles, & Ladles to Linens.

Thursday evening, September 15th, the Double C offers a “no cover” Acoustic Show with Chance Seabolt from 7-9 pm and Shannon Monk performs “True Blue Jazz” (7:30 pm) at Crossroads Music Company.

Friday, the Live Poets Society will meet at the Winnsboro Emporium from 6 - 7 pm. The public is welcome!

Saturday, September 17th, the “3rd Friday” Arts Festival continues with the Texas Pistolaros performing their “wild West” vignettes of fun from 10 am-2 pm on downtown Winnsboro streets.

The Arts Festival runs from 10 am- 5 pm , with both indoor and outdoor vendors and for Saturday is centered in and around the Depot.   Crossroads Music presents the music of Brian Burns at 7:30pm on Saturday.

Enjoy and support the arts. . . a great week-end of fun, good shopping and a bit cooler weather.  It is a wonderful time to be “out and about” in Winnsboro.

Fine Art Market volunteers at the July meeting.

When visitors attend the Winnsboro Fine Art Market in November, they probably won’t be aware of all the hard work that has gone on behind the scenes.  All that work is being done by a group of dedicated volunteers; some who are working on key projects before the Art Market opens and some who will help for a few hours during the event.

There are still many opportunities to get involved in this behind-the-scenes work.  Do you have special talents or interests?  Put them to use as a volunteer.

All volunteers receive Art Market T-shirts, a pass to the VIP Hospitality Room during the Art Market, an invitation to the wrap-up party, and recognition for their service

If you’d like to be part of the action, a meeting of volunteers will be held Saturday, September 10th at 11:00 a.m. in the conference room at the First National Bank, 315 North Main Street, Winnsboro, Texas. Lunch will be served.

For more information please contact Joyce Hillebrand, joyce@winnsboroart.com, 903-763-2050 or Mary Smith, mary@winnsboroart.com, 903-342-3438, or visit the Art Market website at www.winnsboroart.com.  RSVP’s would be appreciated.

The Winnsboro Fine Art Market is a juried art festival held in the Cultural Arts District of Downtown Winnsboro on November 5th and 6th, 2011. It is a project of the Winnsboro Main Street Partnership, Inc., a non-profit corporation and a 501c(3) charity whose mission is to support the development of successful and thriving private sector businesses in the Downtown Historic District and throughout the City of Winnsboro.
