Susan Thames is an herbalist who grows medicinal and culinary herbs. Her interest in natural homemade remedies has grown enough to demand "A Little Herb Shop on Elm Street." Drop by the store to see a truly unique selection herbs and other natural products.

    

Her current inventory includes. . .

Dried herbs, hand-blended herbal teas herbal extracts (tinctures), herbal infused oils, Young Living Essential Oils, herbal themed gift baskets

Local honey, freshly ground Chicory, fresh granola, candied ginger

Hand-spun and dyed yarns from locally raised animals, hand knitted natural cotton wash cloths

Used books and magazines related to herbs and health, educational materials about wildflowers in Northeast Texas and basic primitive skills such as fire starting

Hand-made candles, Japanese paper mache eggs made locally, brightly colored aprons featuring dragonflies

Organic garden vegetable and herbs seeds, fresh "free-range" eggs from happy chickens

Spices and spice blends, spiced and flavored sugars

Sister Susan's face products for Cowgirls and Country Girls including made by hand in small batches face creams, with and without natural scents

In the future we will be offering cooking classes with Chef Debbie from the Winnsboro Farmers Market and Chef Nancy from Falster Farms and classes on how to use medicinal and culinary herbs and essential oils. This fall a Mystery Book Club, featuring books with tea shop or herbal themes will meet at the shop.

Gotta pay attention when the QCT gang brings in performers like The Wonderettes. Get your 50s fix!

They'll be on stage for six performances over two weekends July 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22.
Friday and Saturday, show times are 7:30 pm. Sunday matinees start at 2:00 pm.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for 12 and under.

The Winnsboro Center for the Arts is presenting a fun evening of entertainment featuring Winnsboro Young Players and select adults directed by Maryann Miller.

The evening will include stand-up comedy, skits, improv and music.

Play "Whose line is it, anyway?" and "Stump the Troupe."

If you've seen a young man in camo playing a guitar at Brewbaker's or Liefie's, it's Ray Elam, who recently returned from Afghanistan where he served as a medic. He has settled in Winnsboro and was recently engaged to Shannon Friez of Mineola.

This weekend, Double C Steakhouse will have Ray playing on stage from 8 pm - 10 pm.

For this performance, there is NO COVER CHARGE.

However, donations accepted and greatly appreciated.

Chase and Living Social have launched “Mission: Small BusinessSM,” a new grant program offering up to $3 million to small business owners nationwide. Chase and LivingSocial also obtained the support of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to help announce the program and drive small business engagement and participation.

The program, which will award up to 12 individual grants of $250,000, was developed to provide small businesses with capital and innovative marketing resources needed to make a positive impact on their businesses.

Local businesses can qualify for consideration with 250 votes. If you want to help a small business in Winnsboro qualify, please go to www.missionsmallbusiness.com, and follow the simple voting process.
The deadline is June 30.

You do not have to be a resident of Winnsboro to vote for your favorite business! Thank you for your support!

What a great weekend.  On Friday night, Terri and Lloyd will be teaching all facets of the songwriting business at Crossroads, 6 pm.  The workshop fee is $40 and includes a ticket to the performance on Saturday night.

Terri will be performing with Lloyd Maines on Saturday night.  Kate Hearne, daughter of Lindy Hearne, co-founder of Crossroads Music Company, will open for the duo.

Tickets for the performance alone: $15 adv./$18 door/$20 reserved seats.
