As the Spokescat for the Winnsboro Animal Shelter, I want to make sur yu know the shelter has a really nice web site!  It's really special!

Take a look:  www.winnsboroanimalshelter.com

Please don't forgit the animals, 'specialy wif this really hot weather.  Seems they get more and more orphan dogs and cats at the shelter and they need food and volunteer help to care for them, plus visits from the vet.  If you can help, we'd really 'preciate it.

Chaps! is the next musical at Quitman Community Theatre

Anita Williams - Sunday, July 10, 2011

Mark your calendars now for Quitman Community Theatre's next production, the hilarious musical comedy, Chaps!.

Performances will be held July 29 & 30, August 5 & 6 at 7:30 pm, and July 31 and August 7 at 2:00 pm at the Carroll Green Civic Center in Quitman. Cost is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for 12 and under.

Whoa, Brittania! Panic at the BBC!  The year is 1944, America's favorite singing cowboy and his troupe are late for a special broadcast at the BBC in London.

Out of desperation, Mabel, their tour manager, and Miles, the frantic young producer, grab whomever they can... a snobby announcer, an amiable sound man, a passing soap opera actor... slap them into costume, hand them scripts (after all, it's radio!) and shove them in front of the studio audience. The resulting performance is one England will never forget.

QCT's cast consists of Hanna Graham, Keith Haisten, Michael Phifer, Terry Casburn, Bob Hibbard, and Randy Parrish. Musicians are: Glenda Schill, Ann Norris, Jeff Norris, Christine Gomez, and Jeannette Peel.

3rd Friday Art Walk to feature local Jazz trio

Anita Williams - Sunday, July 10, 2011
The “3rd Friday” Art Walk will feature the Jazz Trio of Shannon Monk (vocals), Joe Knight (piano) and Ben Scarborough (bass) at the Keyring Gallery (107 Locust) from 6-9 pm on Friday evening, July 15.

The free concert accompanies the continuing art exhibition on display from the June Artists’ Competition.   The concert/exhibition is funded, in part, by a grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts.   The public is invited.

As a part of the “3rd Friday” Arts Festival, the Friday evening Art Walk continues to be a part of “3rd Friday”, with several downtown merchants joining in with individual sales, events and art displays.

Some of the participating stores include Beauweevils, SayADream Studio, the Winnsboro Emporium, Art & Espresso, Liefie, Ladles to Linens, Silhouette Dressmaking, & Main Street Antiques & Collectibles.

An “Americana” theme will prevail, with many stores serving refreshments.

Friday evening music continues to be highlighted with Drew Kennedy at the Double C from 8-10pm.  Art & Espresso will feature music by Caleb from 7-9pm.    Come join the fun.

July 15-16 covers the monthly "3rd Friday" Arts Festival, with daytime hours from 10 am - 6 pm on Friday and the Art Walk from 6-9 pm.  On Saturday, the hours remain 10 am-5 pm.

The Texas Pistolaros will “take over” downtown with roving “shoot outs”, general mayhem and foolishness on Saturday, July 16.  The public can be a part of the festive action as they perform between 10am and 2pm.    From "cool jazz"  to "blazing shoot outs", the weekend has much to offer.

Vote for our Winnsboro Farmer's Market

Anita Williams - Monday, July 04, 2011

Denise Miranda, Manager of the Winnsboro Farmer's Market, alerted
me to something I knew nothing about.

There's a competition sponsored by the American Farmland Trust
among all the local Farmer's Markets in each state.

Denise informed me that we just moved up from 4th place to 3rd.

Fortunately, Winnsboro knows how to pull together.  So I told
Denise that we would tell you about it on the blog.

Voting is thru August, voting closes 8-31-11.  Please click on the
green link and vote today so you don't forget about it.

Please VOTE HERE for Winnsboro.

Thanks!
