We do wacky stuff around Winnsboro sometimes just for the fun of it, but this, my friends, could take the prize.
Under a very loose interpretation of the term "performance art," six local merchants will spice up Friday afternoon, May 21, during the 3rd Friday Art Festival. The Winnsboro Shopping Cart Drill Team will entertain with, not one, but two performances set to music.
The first performance will be at the Depot at 2 pm. The second at 5:30 pm on Market Street.
Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing just how precise a person manning a shopping cart can be, knowing that carts often have minds of their own.
If you can't get downtown on Friday afternoon, don't worry. More than one person will be taking pictures and shooting video. Who knows, perhaps there's a state-wide competition for this sort of thing.
Brookshires and Alco have graciously provided shopping carts to the team.
If you can, come on down and cheer them on.
